2-Step New Client Process

  1. Initial Consultation. We want to help clients achieve their business goals by providing the best legal services possible, and our first step in doing so is to make sure we are the right resource. We do this by having every potential client schedule a free 20-minute preliminary consultation with Mr. Coleman to ensure a good fit. Click here to schedule that consultation (before doing so, many initial questions about how we work can be answered by reviewing our rates, retainer and billing information below, as well as our office policies). If you don’t see a time that works for you, reach back out and let us know so we can find something that does.

  2. New Client Engagement Process. Once we both determine that we are the right firm for your needs during the consultation, you will be invited to submit the below form whenever you are ready to move forward (please do not submit the form until after our consultation). Please note that submission of the below form does not itself create an attorney-client relationship - we will not take any action on your behalf until we have established an attorney-client relationship through our engagement agreement and payment of our initial retainer invoice. Once the consultation is completed, and the below form is submitted, we will perform an internal conflicts check, send a digital engagement letter, and generate an online retainer invoice.

Rates - Retainer - Billing

  • Rates: Business law rates vary by attorney, but generally range between $435 and $475. Litigation is handled separately; ask for details, but every case is unique.

  • Retainer: Our standard retainer is $2,000. The retainer stays on-file and can be refunded at any time, if it is not used to pay bills. We may ask for an additional retainer is if you ask us to perform work or advance costs that will exceed the balance of the retainer on-file.  Retainers remain your funds - they stay in a trust account and are refundable if not used.  Retainers can be drawn against to pay delinquent invoices, or anytime at your request.  Any unused amounts at the end of our engagement can be applied to final bills or can be refunded.

  • Billing: We usually bill semi-monthly or monthly for time incurred the previous month, depending on volume.  You can apply a retainer to any bill, but if you do then you’ll need to replenish the retainer to continue with new work or work in-process. We invoice through our practice management software, which allows you to pay via EFT/e-check, or a credit card. As we currently do not pass credit card fees along to clients, paying by EFT/e-check is preferred when possible. Your accounting team can establish an ACH connection directly with us, or pay us via any bill payment provider. Please reach out to us for our W-9 and bank account information.

New Client Form

Please do not submit until after our consultation

Submission of this form alone does not create an attorney-client relationship, and we will not take any action on your behalf, until we have established an attorney-client relationship through a signed written engagement agreement and payment of retainer.
